As a part of the Breast Cancer Awareness month, Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute and Gujarat Cancer Society arranged a special awareness programme for the women on 30th October, 2010 at Thakorebhai Desai Hall, Law Garden, Ahmedabad. The programme started with a prayer by Dr. Usha Shukla, Director, Navjivan School Parivar.

Mrs. Mina Modi, Executive Director, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Sirali Maheta, Principal, S.L.U. Arts and Commerce College for Women, Ahmedabad were the Chief Guests and Mrs. Radhika Jaykrishna was the Guest of Honour. Mrs. Mina Modi stressed on importance of positive thinking and attitude for a women who is undergoing breast cancer treatment narrating her own experience of breast cancer. About 500 women from various educational organizations attended the seminar. Dr. Shilin Shukla, Dy. Director (Research), GCRI, Dr. R.I. Dave, Joint Secretary, Gujarat Cancer Society, Dr. Devang Bhavsar, Associate Professor of Radiotherapy, GCRI presented in a very simple language various aspects of breast cancer. Dr. Sudhaben Multani, Ms. K.T. Daruwala and Mrs. Hansaben presented their experiences. About 250 women were given free mammography examination pass. All women were given family health passport. Dr. Dhruti Desai, Dr. Dipak Rathod, Dr. Rohini Patel and staff of Community Oncology Department and photography department coordinated all the activities of this programme.

Shri Prashant Kinariwala, General Secretary, Gujarat Cancer Society and Dr. Pankaj Shah, Director, Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute welcomed the gatherings. Shri Kshitish Madanmohan, Secretary, Gujarat Cancer Society proposed vote of thanks. Panacea Biotech Ltd. sponsored the programme with the financial grant and their country head Mr. Sunil K. Bajaj was present in the function.
